BALTIMORE (AP) — Brian Roberts has been activated from the disabled list by the Baltimore Orioles, who made room for the veteran second baseman by designating pitcher Jair Jurrgens for assignment.

The 35-year-old Roberts had been on the DL since April 5 with a strained right hamstring. He played in three games before the injury.

Roberts has been slowed by injuries over the past four seasons. He played in only 59 games with Baltimore in 2010, 39 in 2011 and 17 last year.

Jurrjens was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk on Saturday and pitched 2 1-3 scoreless innings for the Orioles against the Yankees.

In another move Sunday, Baltimore obtained outfielder Eric Thames from Seattle for minor league infielder Ty Kelly. Thames is currently on the DL list with a broken hand.
