ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Texas Rangers designated hitter Lance Berkman is out of the lineup for the third straight day because of his sore right knee.

Berkman said before Sunday’s series finale against Cincinnati that his knee was feeling better, and that he’s not too concerned about it.

Berkman slipped going down the steps while getting off the plane after the Rangers got home late Thursday night from a road trip to St. Louis and New York.

After playing only 32 games for St. Louis last season after two operations on his right knee, Berkman says his knee “doesn’t tolerate trauma very well.”

Manager Ron Washington and Berkman are both confident the DH won’t have to go on the disabled list.
