Talking Points: Uniforms to talk about

What’s the buzz from the world of sports? Here are some items that will have people talking:

1

We found these uniforms on Saturday worth talking about.

In the photo below of David Reutimann, you may be asking yourself: 1) NASCAR Sprint Cup driver? … or 2) Can I take your order, please?

And then there was the scene at Safeco Field where the 1909 Seattle Turks of the Northwestern League (or maybe it was the Seattle Mariners in disguise) were playing the 1900s Chicago Cubs (any resemblance between the 2013 Cubs and the team that won three straight National League pennants from 1906-08 is purely coincidental).

We’ll take classic over billboard any day.

A bicycle race turned into a train wreck thanks to a bus. And it was great comedy.

Saturday was the first stage of the 100th edition of the Tour de France, and it’s a safe bet there hasn’t been a more frantic finish.

A team bus got stuck under the scaffolding above the finish line — about 20 minutes before the riders were due. From the exasperated expressions of the bus driver, to the TV play-by-play for both the bike race and the fiasco at the finish line, the situation was quite amusing.

To be clear, we did not find humor in the crash (perhaps caused by the confusion) that wiped out a significant section of the peloton. Bike crashes are just plain scary.

A bus stuck at the finish line, though, is theater of the absurd at its finest.
