Austin Peay crushes Tennessee-Martin 91-58 in OVC

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Will Triggs scored 21 points and Austin Peay scored the first 16 points in a 91-58 romp over Tennessee-Martin Saturday night.

The Governors (8-23, 4-12) dominated throughout. They doubled the Skyhawks’ point total to lead 42-21 at the break, then outscored Tennessee-Martin 49-37 after the break. The rout avenged a 76-74 overtime loss at Tennessee-Martin on Jan. 5.

Triggs’ 21 points came on 8 of 12 shooting from the field and 5 of 10 at the foul line. He got scoring support from Anthony Campbell and Chris Freeman (14 points each), as well as Chris Horton and Preston Herring (10 apiece).

Justin Childs came off the Tennessee-Martin bench to score 20 points. Mike Liabo kicked in 10.

Austin Peay shot 56.6 percent (30 for 53) from the field. Tennessee-Martin was just 19 for 69 (27.5 percent).

The Governors made 29 of 38 free throws, the Skyhawks just 16 of 25.
