Jackson State beats Alabama A&M 60-57

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Kelsey Howard scored 20 points and Christian Williams had 19 points to lead Jackson State to a 60-57 win over Alabama A&M on Saturday night in the regular-season finale for both teams.

The Tigers (11-22, 9-9 Southwestern Athletic Conference), who overcame a poor shooting effort, have won four of their last five games. Jackson State shot 38 percent (19 of 50) from the floor, while the Bulldogs made 42.9 percent (24 of 56) of their shots.

Jackson State led 58-54 with 14 seconds left when Willie Readus made a free throw. Alabama A&M’s Nicholas West cut the deficit to 58-57 on his 3-pointer with 7 seconds remaining.

But two seconds later, Williams made two free throws that ultimately sealed it for the Tigers.

Jeremy Crutcher scored 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds for Alabama A&M (10-19, 6-12). Brandon Ellis had 10 points and Demarquelle Tabb pitched in with 10 rebounds.
