SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — Anthony Downing and Christian Kirk scored 15 points each as Missouri State clinched the No. 7 seed in the Missouri Valley Conference tournament with a 64-56 victory against Bradley on Saturday night.
Marcus Marshall and Nathan Scheer added 11 points apiece for the Bears (10-21, 7-11), who finished in a three-way tie with Drake and Bradley for seventh in the conference standings.
Under MVC tiebreaking procedures, Missouri State finishes on top and faces No. 10 seed Southern Illinois on Thursday in St. Louis. Drake is the No. 8 seed and plays No. 9 Bradley on Thursday.
Jordan Prosser and Walt Lemon Jr. scored 13 points each for the Braves (16-15, 7-11), who did not score after a jumper by Dyricus Simms-Edwards got Bradley within 58-56 with 2:09 remaining.
Scheer drilled a 3-pointer and, after a turnover by Lemon, Gavin Thurman hit a jump shot to make it 63-56 with 47 seconds to play.
The Braves missed their last four shots from the floor.
