NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Freshman Rashid Gaston had a career-high 20 points and his second straight double-double as Norfolk State remained perfect in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play, sweeping Florida A&M 69-58.

Gaston added 10 rebounds for his third double-double as the Spartans (20-10, 15-0) clinched a share of the MEAC title and the top seed in the conference tournament — both program firsts.

Norfolk State has won 14 straight, and host North Carolina A&T Thursday with a chance to complete the first perfect MEAC season since Coppin State did it consecutively in 1992-93 and 1993-94.

The Spartans also moved to 10-0 at home this year and will be seeking their first undefeated home season since 1988-89.

Jamie Adams had 13 points and Reggie Lewis 12 for the Rattlers (8-21, 5-10).

Norfolk State shot 49.1 percent (28 of 57) to Florida A&M’s 31.4 percent (22 of 70).
