Letter: Consider majority view of fireworks

In her Feb. 22 letter, “City should focus on fireworks,” Fran Hannah seemed to speak for all of us. Wrong.

What she should have more truthfully said: “Fireworks traumatizes ‘my’ pets, interrupts ‘my’ sleep, pollutes ‘my’ air, assaults ‘my’ hearing” and ‘I’ am more important than the thousands of kids and adults who delight in the sound, spectacle, patriotism and freedom it represents.

Let’s hope the Vancouver City Council understands this and doesn’t side with her vs. the probable vast majority. That might also be a good point to include in a campaign strategy.

Finally, I would wager 99 percent of all school fires are started by matches or other causes than fireworks.
