Outdoors blog: Spring chinook count perks up at Bonneville Dam

Seven spring chinook were counted Sunday at Bonneville Dam, bringing the season total to 16.

Test fishing began Sunday for spring chinook.

Four commercial boats tested between Astoria and Longview. They made 16 drifts and caught two chinook and four steelhead. Both of the chinook were lower Columbia salmon, one was hatchery and one was wild. Two the steelhead were wild and two were hatchery.

Test fishing will resume next Sunday.
