String of suspicious fires plague Bend, Ore.

BEND, Ore. — A string of suspicious fires Wednesday morning have burned churches and homes in Bend.

KTVZ reports police tracked footprints in the snow in a hunt for possible suspects.

The fires began shortly after 2 a.m., when smoke was spotted coming from the Trinity Episcopal Church. As police and fire units arrived, another report came in of a fire at the nearby Grace Bible Church.

A short time later, dispatchers received a report of a home engulfed in flames and fires in trash cans in an alley near the Episcopal church. A garage fire in the alley spread to the adjacent house. Fires were then reported at two more homes.

There were no reports of injuries.
