HAMMOND, La. (AP) — Brandon Fortenberry scored 11 of his 23 points during a key, late stretch to lift Southeastern Louisiana over McNeese State 79-68 Thursday night.

Fortenberry scored his 11 as the Lions (11-17, 9-8 Southland Conference) outscored the Cowboys 13-5 in the final 5 minutes to blow open what was a 66-63 contest.

Southeastern Louisiana snapped a four-game losing streak and avenged a 65-58 loss to McNeese State on Feb. 19.

Fortenberry was 9-of-18 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds. Roosevelt Johnson added 15 points and nine boards while Dre Evans had 13 points.

Craig McFerrin led McNeese State (12-16, 6-11) with 18 points — tying a season high — and 11 rebounds for his second double-double of the year, each of which have come in the Cowboys’ last two games. Kevin Hardy added 14 points and seven assists.

McNeese State has lost two in a row and three of four.
