Letter: Cuts gut too much from services

The Columbian
Published: March 6, 2013, 4:00pm

Members of Congress have to choose between ending wasteful programs at the Pentagon, strengthening the economy, and putting Americans back to work, or gutting programs that benefit middle-class families and honoring our commitments to the men and women who have served our nation overseas.

Thousands of men and women who have served our country are dying as they wait for services they need. This sequester is making cuts to Head Start and air traffic controllers. What are they thinking? Why are we only making cuts to the most vulnerable?

This seems like a no-brainer. As a country, we need to start caring about all of the people. We hire those lawmakers in Washington, D.C., and we can fire them with our votes.
