CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Clemson has fired women’s basketball coach Itoro Coleman after three seasons.

Athletics director Dan Radakovich said Friday that he decided the program was not going the right direction under Coleman.

Coleman went 25-63 and 10-38 in the Atlantic Coast Conference in her three seasons coaching the Tigers. Clemson was 5-13 in the ACC this season, and its ninth place finish was the best since 2007.

Coleman was a star guard for the Tigers from 1995 to 1999, the golden era for Clemson women’s basketball. At one point, the Tigers made the NCAA tournament in 14 of 15 seasons. But Clemson hasn’t been to the NCAAs since 2002.

The Tigers season ended Thursday with a 56-45 loss to North Carolina State in the opening round of the ACC tournament.
