Innovate Washington hires Priest as marketing chief

Innovate Washington, a public-private partnership that is working to build the state’s innonvation-based businesses, has hired Tim Priest as its chief marketing and development officer.

Priest has marketing experience in areas of clean energy, biofuels, food and beverage, and cloud technology, Innovate Washington said. He is the founder and former president of CMO Strategy Group, a Portland-based marketing strategy and services company. He also was the founding CEO of Greenlight Greater Portland, an economic development organization that is now Greater Portland Inc. Before that, Priest was executive director of the Greater Washington Initiative in Washington, DC.

In his new job, Priest will lead Innovate Washington’s communications strategy and help identify projects in innovation-based sectors that can leverage funding for growth, the organization said. He will be based in a new office in Vancouver along with Bart Phillips, the organization’s vice president of economic development.
