Letter: Show me the road improvements

I received my statement for auto license tabs. Of the $67.75 fee, $30 goes to fund road construction and maintenance; $10 (vehicle weight fee) goes to fund highway improvements, transit and “other” transportation needs; $20 (replacement plate fee) goes for road, street and highway purposes; $4(plate “reflectivity”fee) goes to fund road, street and highway maintenance and improvements.

So explain why driving on Northeast 121st Avenue between 55th Street and Fourth Plain Boulevard is like driving over a cattle guard or railroad ties?

Conditions like these have existed for years with no maintenance or repairs.

There are lots more examples of declining conditions on our streets. With the addition of these creative license “fees,” maybe we should expect to see some attention given to problem areas some time soon?
