ORANGE, Texas (AP) — Todd Faircloth has a seven-ounce lead Friday at the Bassmaster Elite Series.

Faircloth, from Jasper, Texas, has a two-day total of 26 pounds, 15 ounces. First-day leader Dean Rojas, of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., was second at 26-8 followed by Cliff Crochet, of Pierre Part, La., at 25-0.

“I had a long boat ride back, so I kind of took it easy to make sure I got them (the fish) back safely,” Faircloth said.

The day’s largest bass was a 6-1 brought in by Terry Scroggins, making him the top contender for the $1,500 Carhartt Big Bass bonus.

The winner will receive $100,000.
