Reservations being accepted for Lewis River campgrounds

ARIEL — Campground reservations at PacifiCorp’s Cresap Bay and Cougar Camp parks along the North Fork of the Lewis River are being accepted.

The toll-free number is 1-855-414-0004.

Return calls confirming dates and arranging payment only occurs weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Individual sites at the two campgrounds cost $20 per night

PacifiCorp’s other parks are on a first-come basis. The utility offers 318 campsites, hot showers, boat ramps and recreational vehicle stations at its parks along the river.

PacifiCorp operates Merwin, Yale and Swift dams.

Cresap Bay on Merwin Reservoir will be open May 24 though Sept 30.

Cougar, on Yale Reservoir, will be open May 24 through Labor Day. Beaver Bay, also on Yale, will be open April 27 through Sept. 30. Swift Forest Camp, on Swift Reservoir, will be open April 27 until mid-November.

Saddle Dam and Yale Park boat ramps on Yale, and Speelyai Bay boat ramp on Merwin, are day-use facilities.

No parking fees are charged except on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from Memorial Day weekend to Sept. 15, when a $3 charge is in effect.

Day-use parking passes for the summer are available for $20. They are sold at the Woodland Information Center and a fee booths located at parks during hours they are staffed.

Renovations are complete at Merwin Park. Visitors will find a new play structure, two picnic shelters, additional picnic tables, volleyball courts and a new barrier-free path.
