Letter: Share the wealth with shelter

The Columbian
Published: March 23, 2013, 5:00pm

Almost every day we are reading stories about new Clark County commissioner, David Madore, the man who contributed more than $300,000 of his own money to his election campaign. He’s even paying his own assistant, Anna Miller, his former campaign manager, out of his own pocket. Madore, who seems to believe he’s Clark County’s “Political Messiah,” is obsessed with saving the citizens of this county money.

I have a suggestion for how he can save us even more money. It came to mind after reading the March 13 Columbian story “County holds off on shelter deal” of Madore investigating our Humane Society salaries and expenditures. (Madore later approved the contract.)

Commissioner Madore should donate his $100,000-plus county salary to the Humane Society. The Humane Society would indeed be a good recipient of badly needed funds from a man who apparently has more money than he needs.
