NEW YORK (AP) — Ramon Dominguez says he has been told by his doctor that he must continue therapy on his fractured skull and he has no timetable for a return to racing.

Dominguez met Monday with his neurosurgeon, whom the jockey said is “very pleased” with his progress but “I am not completely healed.” Dominguez was injured in a spill at Aqueduct Racetrack on Jan. 18.

“I feel very good physically and mentally,” said Dominguez, who has won the last three Eclipse Awards as the nation’s leading jockey, “but my injury was serious and I need to take more time to allow myself to fully recover.”

Dominguez said he would continue to follow up with his doctors, and he misses riding.

“It’s hard because I feel so good,” he said, “but I know I need to be patient and focus on my recovery.”
