LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) — Atlanta Braves reliever Jonny Venters was removed in the sixth inning of Tuesday’s game against the Detroit Tigers because of a sprained left elbow.

Venters replaced Jordan Walden at the start of the inning and allowed a leadoff homer to Don Kelly that tied the score 2-2.

Jhonny Peralta struck out, Bryan Pena walked and Ramon Santiago hit a go-ahead triple to right. Venters threw a run-scoring wild pitch and was replaced by Andrew Russell.

Venters went 5-4 with a 3.29 ERA in 66 games for the Braves last season.
