The president of Arc of Southwest Washington has announced his intention to run for Battle Ground City Council.

The run will be a second attempt for Mike Dalesandro, a longtime Battle Ground resident who sits on a variety of boards. He previously ran for City Council in 2009.

“With many issues not being adequately addressed, I am seeking a seat on the Battle Ground City Council to address those issues and help improve our community,” Dalesandro said in a statement.

Dalesandro describes himself as a fiscal conservative who would work to create safe neighborhoods and protect “small town values.”

Top priorities would include fixing South Parkway and reducing congestion on Main Street.

Dalesandro works as the operations manager for Columbia River Logistics in Vancouver.

He was named the president of Arc of Southwest Washington, which serves people with developmental disabilities, at the beginning of the year. He also serves as a Battle Ground planning commissioner.
