A tire throw earned Chad Kruppner of Battle Ground first place on Saturday at the end of the March Muddy Madness race.

The tire throw broke a tie between Kruppner and Mike Mikelson of Vancouver at the completion of the 45-minute race at the Woodland MX Park.

In addition to earning one point for every lap of the 1-mile course completed within 45 minutes, the approximately 150 participants could earn up to five bonus points per lap by completing challenges.

Robin Proudfit of Camas was the women's champion. Tiffany Taylor and 11-year-old Sophie Friauf, both of Vancouver, tied for second in women's points. Taylor won that tire-throwing tie-breaker.

The under-16 champions were 12-year-old Will Buss and Zoe Hill.

This was the fourth year that Northwest Personal Training of Vancouver has staged an obstacle course race to mark the arrival of spring.
