COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Almost halfway through spring practices, Ohio State coach Urban Meyer likes most of what he’s seen so far.

The Buckeyes, coming off a surprising 12-0 season, must develop overall depth and fill several big holes on the defensive line and at linebacker.

They have completed six of their 14 practices leading up to their annual spring intrasquad scrimmage on April 13.

Off the field, he has enjoyed watching Florida Gulf Coast’s run through the NCAA men’s basketball tournament to the regional semifinals. Meyer’s daughter, Gigi, is a setter on the Eagles’ volleyball team.

Meyer likes the talented Eagles, but was careful to not pick them in their round of 16 matchup with Florida.

“Always a Gator,” said the former Gators coach.
