CHEHALIS — The trial for a man accused of wounding a deputy and judge at the Grays Harbor County Courthouse in Montesano is under way in Lewis County.

Deputy Polly Davin testified Tuesday she thought she was going to die last March when she was stabbed and shot with her own gun after she confronted Steven Kravetz because he was “creeping people out.”

Judge David Edwards was stabbed when he came to the rescue. Both the deputy and judge have recovered.

Kravetz is charged with assault and attempted murder. Prosecutors say the McCleary man didn’t want to be taken into custody because there was a warrant for his arrest.

KOMO reports the defense is expected to argue Kravetz has diminished capacity and didn’t intend to kill anyone.
