Washougal -- The Camas-Washougal Historical Society's new president hopes to guide the organization toward new opportunities with a renewed vitality. Richard Johnson took over leadership from Curtis Hughey, who recently retired. Johnson spent 37 years with the state Department of Fish and Wildlife and was a charter member of Columbia Springs Environmental Learning Center's board of directors. In the latest historical society newsletter, Johnson wrote he is pleased with the hiring of Vancouver's Erin Leverman as the new director of the society's Two Rivers Heritage Museum, someone he believes will further strengthen the institution.
