Cody Hawken of Union baseball was voted The Columbian’s high school athlete of the week for the week of March 18-23 in a vote by fans on Facebook.
Hawken collected 41 percent of the 298 votes cast to beat out Skyview track and field athlete Aubrey Ward-El, who had 27 percent.
Hawken combined to go 5 for 6 with four doubles and a home run, while driving in six runs in a pair of victories. The Titans are off to a fast start, 6-0 overall with a 1-0 mark in the 4A Greater St. Helens League..
The other nominees were Mountain View tennis doubles team of Milla Benedetti and Emma Raivio, Skyview soccer player Carter Johnson and Heritage track and field athlete Devin Scott.
