WSUV campus will be tobacco-free next fall

Washington State University Vancouver Chancellor Mel Netzhammer announced Thursday that the campus will become tobacco-free effective Aug. 1. More than 1,000 such campuses exist nationwide.

Survey results of students, faculty and staff indicated that a significant majority support moving to a tobacco-free campus.

While the issue of designated smoking areas was raised, they were determined to be an impractical solution for the campus.
