Sensory Camp benefit concert set for May 11

The second annual Save Sensory Camp benefit concert is 7 p.m. May 11 at the Red Lion Hotel Vancouver at the Quay, 100 Columbia St. For details visit

Sensory camp meets the needs of children with autism, sensory disorders and other special needs.

Last year when Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation faced a $1.2 million budget reduction, sensory camp was cancelled.

Three Vancouver women, April Sutherland, Beth Pederson and Sara Brandon — the “sensory camp moms” — raised more than $27,000 and preserved the seven-week summer camp. They received a statewide citation of merit from the Washington Recreation and Parks Association.
