CLEVELAND (AP) — Cleveland Indians outfielder Michael Bourn, who has been sidelined with a lacerated right finger, will begin a minor-league rehabilitation assignment Monday.

Bourn sustained a five-stitch cut on his hand when he was stepped on by Chicago reliever Matt Thornton while sliding into first base on April 14. He began taking batting practice during the weekend and will play a few games at Triple-A Columbus before rejoining the Indians.

Bourn is batting .333 in 10 games from the leadoff spot.

The Indians also recalled left-hander Scott Barnes from Columbus and designated outfielder Ezequiel Carrera for assignment Sunday. Barnes has made one appearance for the Indians, allowing two runs in one inning.
