TORONTO (AP) — An 18-year-old woman died after collapsing near the end of the Toronto Marathon on Sunday.

Police say attempts were made to revive the woman, whose name was not immediately released, but she was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital. The cause of death was not immediately known, and police said only that the woman had suffered a medical emergency.

Another male runner also collapsed during the race, but bystanders and paramedics were able to resuscitate him and he was later reported to be in stable condition.

Before the race, runners paused for a moment of silence to honor the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings and also wore bibs featuring a “Remember Boston” ribbon image.

Terry Gehl of Quebec won the men’s title, while Montreal’s Mylene Sansoucy won the women’s title.
