The Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office on Monday identified the skeletal remains found along Interstate 5 two weeks ago as those of Jesse Joseph Klein.

The cause of the Vancouver man’s death is pending. The medical examiner’s office said that it can take between six to eight weeks to make the determination.

Klein, 29, disappeared Aug. 25, 2011. His family told the Columbian a month after he disappeared that Klein went to a hospital that day for help with back pain and hadn’t been seen or heard from since.

Klein’s bones were found April 23 in thick shrubs along I-5 South at the East 39th Street exit.

Vancouver Police spokeswoman Kim Kapp said that the death investigation is continuing but that Klein has been removed from the agency’s missing person’s page online.

Records show Klein had a number of misdemeanor cases filed against him in the past few years in Clark County District Court, but none in Superior Court.
