A 20-month-old boy is in serious condition at a Portland hospital after his grandfather backed a riding lawn mower over his left leg Sunday.

Kwinten Lulay was taken by Life Flight helicopter to Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel after the accident at a home near Grove Field in Camas. The toes appeared injured and the leg was mangled, said Camas Fire Department Battalion Chief Mark Ervin.

Sgt. Fred Neiman of the Clark County Sheriff’s Office said the incident was under investigation, adding, “We don’t anticipate any criminal charges resulting from this.”
