TAMPA Fla. (AP) — Yankees pitcher Michael Pineda was involved with an odd long ball.

Pineda, who missed all of last season after right shoulder surgery, parked his SUV Wednesday in a grass parking lot behind the left-field fence at the Yankees’ minor league complex. After working out, the right-hander got an unexpected surprise. A batting practice homer aided by the wind blowing out went through the back right side window of his vehicle, leaving a softball size hole.

Pineda smiled and said the ball was still in his car as he left to get it repaired on Wednesday. Pineda has been making progress in his rehab program, and will pitch in his next extended spring training game on Monday. He hopes to soon start a minor league rehab assignment.
