Pets of the Week: Humane Society for Southwest Washington

The Columbian
Published: May 9, 2013, 5:00pm

Meet Chalky. He is 1-year-old blue and white domestic short hair. He came to the shelter as a stray and sadly no one came to claim him. Now he is on the search for a new forever home, where he can be kept indoors only to keep his fur clean and mat-free. Chalky can be a little scared of other cats, so he would need a slow introduction to any other cats he would be living with. If this handsome guy is the cat for you, bring your kids down and meet Chalky today!

Meet Wiggles, an about 8-year-old pug/beagle mix who came to the shelter when his last home could no longer take care of him. He may be an older boy but he’s still full of happy energy and is ready to be part of a family! Wiggles was recently on an overnight and did great around cats! He enjoyed hanging out with kids and adults, he just wanted to be on a lap and get lots of love. He should meet other dogs that he may be living with before going home with them.

These pets are among those available for adoption from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday at the Humane Society for Southwest Washington, 1100 N.E. 192nd Ave., Vancouver. The Humane Society is closed to the public on Mondays. Fees — which can include registered microchip, health exam, a spay or neuter certificate and vaccination — vary. Call 360-693-4746.
