Anthony Dizon of Woodland soccer was voted The Columbian’s high school athlete of the week for the week of April 29-May 4 in a vote by fans on Facebook.

Dizon collected 50 percent of the 454 votes cast to beat out Katie Schroeder of Camas softball, who had 35 percent.

Dizon scored two goals in a 3-0 victory over Stevenson in a Trico League tiebreaker match that advanced the Beavers to the district tournament. Then Dizon scored a goal Saturday in the opening round of the tournament. The 2-1 win over Elma was the first district playoff win for the soccer program since 2002.

The other nominees were Akari Baba of Prairie tennis, Ian Hamilton of Skyview baseball and Alicia Kwon of Union golf.

Nominees are posted on The Columbian’s prep sports blog at www.360preps.com by Monday. Voting starts Monday and continues through 8 p.m. Thursday at www.facebook.com/360preps.
