Letter: Bridge will free Vancouver

The Columbian
Published: May 9, 2013, 5:00pm

When are we going to let Oregon and the Columbia River Crossing stop making decisions for us, the people of Vancouver and the state of Washington? We are tired of being the ugly stepsister of Portland, or of mistaken identity with Vancouver, B.C.? We need to build the bridge now, so people can see the jewel of the Columbia — “The ‘Couve” — Vancouver, Wash.

Forget light rail. How about cable cars or a new monorail?

With the new waterfront project, we need to become union. We need to become our own city, free from Portland forever; a city we are proud to call our own!
