A security guard was stabbed Saturday afternoon after confronting a theft suspect at the Grand Central Fred Meyer store.

A robbery and assault were reported to Vancouver police at about 4:30 p.m. The suspect, Ryan C. Shook, had allegedly committed a theft at the store and was confronted by a security guard, a VPD bulletn said.

The bulletin said Shook stabbed the security guard and fled the store.

Police found Shook, age 38, a short distance away and arrested him on suspicion of first degree robbery and first degree assault. He was booked into the Clark County Jail.

The security guard, whose name was not released, was transported to a hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, according to the statement.
