CHICAGO (AP) — Anthony Rizzo and the Chicago Cubs have agreed to a seven-year, $41 million contract.

Multiple media outlets reported the extension, citing unidentified sources, before the first baseman’s agent, Marc Pollak, confirmed the deal to ESPNChicago.com.

According to reports, the deal includes two team options that could make it worth as much as $73 million over nine years.

The 23-year-old Rizzo is considered one of the centerpieces of the Cubs’ rebuilding efforts.

He is hitting .288 with a .352 on-base percentage. He also has nine home runs and 28 RBIs in his third major league season.
