DETROIT (AP) — Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve has left Monday night’s game against the Detroit Tigers with a jaw injury after colliding with right fielder Jimmy Paredes while chasing a popup.

Detroit’s Jhonny Peralta lifted a popup behind first base in the second inning. Altuve and Paredes and first baseman Chris Carter converged on the ball, which came loose when Altuve and Paredes ran into each other. Altuve stayed down for a bit, then was able to get up. The Astros described the injury as a subluxation of the right jaw.

The play was scored a single. Ronny Cedeno came in to play shortstop, with Marwin Gonzalez moving from shortstop to second base.

Altuve has been a bright spot for Houston this year, hitting .333.
