Scott Patterson, C-Tran’s director of development and public affairs, has been hired as the next executive director of the Cowlitz-Wahkiakum Council of Governments.

Patterson succeeds Steve Harvey, who retired last month after 30 years as the Kelso-based council’s executive director. Patterson will take over in June.

The Cowlitz-Wahkiakum Council of Governments is a regional planning organization in Southwest Washington. Its board, made up of largely local government and school district representatives, picked Patterson from among four finalists.

Patterson, 43, joined C-Tran in 2003. He previously worked for the Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce, and was a Congressional staffer for Sen. Slade Gordon and Rep. Linda Smith.

Patterson said he’ll continue to live in north Clark County.
