SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The Italian entry in the America’s Cup sailing races says the owner of the boat is coming to San Francisco to decide whether to compete.

On Thursday, the Luna Rossa team announced Patrizio Bertelli was closely following developments after the death of a competing sailor on a training run last week.

Italian team officials say an announcement on their participation in the race might be made on Friday.

On Wednesday, America’s Cup officials said they were confident all entries would compete in the 34th America’s Cup event after they talked with all four teams involved.

Andrew “Bart” Simpson was killed on May 9 when the Artemis Racing catamaran capsized and trapped him underwater for more than 10 minutes.
