12-1 shot Batti Man wins Hollywood Park feature

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Batti Man edged 11-10 favorite Rousing Sermon by a nose to win the $61,170 feature at Betfair Hollywood Park on Friday.

Ridden by Brice Blanc, Batti Man ran 1 1/16 miles on Cushion Track in 1:43.65 and paid $27.20, $9.40 and $5.80. He won for the first time in 13 U.S. starts. The 5-year-old Argentine-bred’s previous win came on Sept. 23, 2011, in that country.

Rousing Sermon returned $2.80 and $2.60, the third runner-up finish in five races on the synthetic surface for the 4-year-old gelding.

Congenial was another head back in third and paid $4.40 to show after shipping in from Oaklawn Park in Arkansas.

Batti Man has three wins in 17 career starts and earnings of $117,284.
