A season-high 32 points from Josh Tarver wasn’t nearly enough as the Vancouver Volcanoes saw their six-game International Basketball League win streak come to a halt with a 134-116 loss to the Salem Sabres on Friday at Chemeketa Community College.

Tarver made 12 of 22 shots and was one of five Volcanoes players with double-figure scoring.

Chehales Tapscott had 25 points and nine rebounds, Paul Hafford 19 points, Mike Ward 15 and Kevin Bloodsaw 13.

Salem (2-3) had too much for Vancouver (6-2) in their third meeting in four games.

Daniel Deane had 22 points and 13 rebounds, and Joe Burton had 19 points and 21 rebounds for the Sabres. Kyle Long led the team with 28 points.

Salem outrebounded Vancouver 60-37.

The Volcanoes are back home tonight, taking on new IBL entry LoneStar Strikers from the Houston area.
