SUNDAY

CASCADES PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH will have a groundbreaking ceremony at 5 p.m. for a new sanctuary, followed by a potluck and a 6:30 p.m. concert by the 20-member Cascades choir. Chartered in 1979, church members have expanded the present building twice, most recently to add space for fellowship. The new sanctuary will seat 220. Cascades has always focused on mission work at home and abroad, and pastor Chris Montovino has encouraged church members to broaden outreach efforts to include the world’s poorest. Approximately 20 families from Cascades are supporting a child in Burundi, Africa, through a small monthly donation that benefits not only the individual but the entire community. A free-will offering will be taken as the church hosts a concert as part of the partnership with World Vision in Burundi. The church is at 9503 N.E. 86th St. 360-892-6613.
