MEDFORD, Ore. — A man with two out-of-state warrants for his arrest allegedly kidnapped and assaulted a woman for several days in a Medford hotel, police said.
Rodney Edward Silva, 44, is held in the Jackson County Jail without bail on charges of first-degree rape, second-degree kidnapping, second-degree assault, attempting to elude police and resisting arrest, jail records show.
He is also held for violating his parole in California, which stems from a past sex-crime conviction and failure to register as a sex offender, police said.
The woman Silva allegedly kidnapped was in a relationship with him, police said. She escaped the room Friday afternoon and asked the hotel manager to call 911. Police reported that Silva threatened to kill the woman if she left the room during his temporary departures.
Medford police Cpl. Jason Antley said her injuries were extensive.
The investigation is ongoing.
