Fatal crash reported on Hayden Island

Northbound exit affected

The northbound off-ramp to Jantzen Beach is closed due to an accident; closing the stop behind the Burger King:

Passengers at Delta Park traveling to Jantzen Beach will be re-directed to downtown Vancouver where they must board a southbound Route 4 to Jantzen Beach.

Passengers at Jantzen Beach traveling to Vancouver must first board a southbound bus to Delta Park to return to downtown Vancouver.

This only affects the northbound ramp to Jantzen Beach. Southbound travel is not affected; however, passengers should expect longer travel times due to heavy traffic. For trip planning assistance, please contact the C-TRAN Passenger Service Office at (360) 695-0123.

This afternoon, Monday May 20, 2013, at approximately 12:00 p.m., North Precinct officers responded to the report of a rollover crash on the exit to Hayden Island from northbound I-5.

Portland Police and Portland Fire & Rescue personnel arrived and determined that the lone male occupant was deceased.

Traffic officers are conducting the crash investigation and are looking into the possibility that the driver may have suffered a medical event prior to the crash.

The offramp to Hayden Island from northbound I-5 is expected to be closed for the next 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

Northbound drivers needing access to Hayden Island should continue North on I-5 into Washington, then come back southbound to access the island.
