BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) — Tamas Ajan of Hungary has been re-elected to serve four more years as president of the International Weightlifting Federation, which he has led since 2000.

The IWF said in a statement that Ajan defeated Antonio Urso, the Italian who heads the European Weightlifting Federation, by an undisclosed margin at a meeting Monday in Moscow.

The 74-year-old Ajan says all IWF members, whether they voted for him or not, “have to be united and we have to work hard for the future of weightlifting.”

It’s the third time Ajan was re-elected as president of the IWF, which is based in the Hungarian capital of Budapest. He was IWF secretary general between 1976 and 2000 before moving up to the top post.

He was also re-elected president in 2005 and 2009.
