Interior Secretary Sally Jewell, former CEO of Seattle-based REI, will visit Portland Thursday and Friday for public events.

Thursday, she will announce a youth employment program of 22 conservation projects across the country being funded through a partnership with the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. That announcement will be at the Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge in Southeast Portland.

On Friday, Jewell will join Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber and Jesus Sanchez, director of Washington’s Center for Regulatory Innovation and Assistance, at Portland State University. Kitzhaber and Sanchez, representing Washington Gov. Jay Inslee, will sign an agreement to expedite permitting of energy and other infrastructure projects.
