Letter: Great reward in sharing your pets

The May 27 story, “A patient’s best friend,” reported, “Therapy dogs such as Legacy Salmon Creek volunteer Mukaluka Dirtypaws fill hospital with cheer.” Kudos to Peter Christensen and his dog, Muka, for the happiness they give so freely. We know Christensen personally and can attest to the countless hours he has invested in his dog, and his position with PetPartners. This is all on his own time and money.

There are many in this area doing the same things with Pet Partners-certified dogs, and I congratulate you all. We regularly visit various facilities around Vancouver with our Goldens, Harlow, and Crunch. Christensen is right on when he said he derives more pleasure from his efforts than he gives out. Anyone interested in joining Pet Partners can visit http://petpartners.org or http://therapydoginfo.net. A great day can start with a good dog. Make someone smile.
