Local celebrity Rojo the Llama has been honoured as the grand marshal for the Portland Rose Festival’s Fred Meyer Junior Parade on Wednesday.

The 11-year-old llama is a certified therapy animal with DoveLewis in Portland.

With his handlers Shannon Hendrickson and Lori Gregory, Rojo visits children’s hospitals, senior communities, schools and special events, often in costume.

He is part of Mountain Peaks Therapy Llamas and Alpacas based in Vancouver.

The group will also be participating in the Grand Floral Parade on June 8.

The Junior Parade will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Northeast 52nd and Sandy Boulevard, Portland.
